Message from the Director

Florida is a national leader when it comes to promoting post-secondary education for young people from foster care. In 2014, the Florida legislature directed the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to work collaboratively with the Florida Department of Education, the Florida College System, and the State University System Board of Governors to “help address the need for a comprehensive support structure in the academic arena to assist young adults who have been or remain in the foster care system.” (409.1452, F.S.)

DCF established Positive Pathways Program, which is administered by Educate Tomorrow statewide, to support DCF’s collaborations and partnerships, particularly with education and child welfare professionals based on campus and in the community.

DCF has set up this website to provide a forum through which these individuals can stay in touch with each other and obtain information about the program and our efforts to increase the graduation rate of former foster youth, and related populations of students.

As these individuals serve these students, Positive Pathways provides training, networking opportunities, and technical support. Together we can help these young transitioning adults reach their educational and life goals.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to working with you.
